Actually, it seems to me that the law has essentially paternalistic assumptions...that women can't make judgments about these matters...and lack any right to make what the authorities determine to be a bad choice for themselves. Can there be a "feminism run amok" that jibes with paternalism? Well, it's hardly "feminism" if it does. But that wouldn't keep the people with paternalistic assumptions from appealing to feminism--or anything else--to get what they want.
