She was 19 years old and a student at Ege University doing her 2nd year of biology. Her uncle, Mehmet Kulaksiz, is a prisoner in Edirne F-Type prison. The death fast in the prisons of Turkey has been in progress for 178 days, during which time 10 prisoners and two family members of prisoners have died. The relatives of the prisoners who are members of TAYAD, also started a death fast against the introduction of F-type prisons 147 days ago. On the 9th of April, the TAYAD-member G?ls?man D?nmez died in Istanbul. The reason for their action was that they didn't want to leave their sons and daughters alone with their struggle and they wanted to share death with them.
