Don't agree --- the "austerity" ship has sailed.   The progressive wing of
the Dems already has virtually made cuts in entitlements a la the Ryan
Budget (which admittedly Obama would have accepted as part of a "grand
bargain" with the Repugs) anathema.   In the context of covid-19 and the
ensuing recession/depression at Biden administration will insist on
spending the economy back to "normal" --

NOW -- will they cut "defense" and "police" -- no --- but they will ignore
deficits until there is actual evidence of inflation ...

(and note that even with the recent price spikes, prices overall are DOWN
for the year ....)

Doesn't mean the left wing of the Dems can be complacent because of course
there are plenty of neoliberals left in the "democratica" establishment ---
but they are laying low these days --- perhaps some of them have even
learned the lessons of the last bunch of years ...

After all, FDR criticized Hoover for running deficits when he was
campaigning against him (Hoover) in 1932 only to "accept" deficit spending
... even before WW II ....
