Ken -- Ellen Israel's memoir of Cuba travel doesn't state that the NLF pushed
for a particular line, and that's not how I read the review either. Ellen
writes:

"One of the most significant outcomes of the 1963 and 1964 Cuba trips was that
they became a catalyst for the anti-Vietnam War effort. While we were in Cuba,
some of us met with delegates of the National Liberation Front. We were so
impressed with their persistence in resisting the French and now the US
imperialists that we decided to launch the
May 2nd Movement (M2M) to bring an anti-imperialist perspective to nascent
antiwar movement. On May 2, 1964, M2M organized national antiwar marches, which
drew over 1,000 students and others in New York City, 700 in San Francisco, and
smaller crowds in Boston, Madison, and Seattle."

By the way, the YSA was also involved in organizing the May 2, 1964 actions.

The following paragraph of the memoir begins:

"The May 2nd Movement ultimately suffered from the same sectarianism as PL's
other initiatives."

The book includes a bunch of photos from Cuba, including Fidel playing ping
pong with the U.S. students. One caption reads: "Fidel engaging students during
ping pong matches. Fidel beat everyone."
