In a world of neoliberals and new-century Nazis, there are few chances
these days to get genuinely excited over an idea with which one disagrees.
A couple months ago, Bioscience Resource Project’s

over the origins of COVID-19. I left room for /discussion/ of the
putative lab origins of the outbreak. As I wrote in /Big Farms, /first
drafted here,

/thousands/ of BSL-3 and -4 labs built around the world since 9/11 and
H5N1, the first of the new celebrity influenzas, the rarity of an
accidental release of a deadly pathogen under study bends toward
inevitability.
But that doesn’t mean any single outbreak is so determined. That’s a
different issue. Such a conclusion depends on the preponderance of
evidence accumulating across a variety of explanations.
