The nationwide eviction moratorium announcedTuesdayby the Department of
Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) will provide immediate and welcome relief through the
end of the year for certain renters, buthousing rightsadvocates say the
move is woefully inadequate because it fails to provide any payment
assistance to renters.
Tenants will still owe back rent plus interest and fees once the
moratorium ends in January.
