This, in today's language, is retraumatisation. The trauma of fighting a war in
East Asia, and then fighting stigmatisation at home.
I went with the way that "the warrior ethos" is developed and imbued in young
people and using Boykin's reference that GWB's GWOT is a "war against" Satan.

disrespect when they came back from Vietnam -- there is a whole large scale
false meme about citizens SPITTING on vets when they came back from Vietnam ---
a "story" that has been debunked over and over again but probably has totally
penetrated the national consciousness.
