I disagree with ROGER about COVID --- I think Biden will make the US closer to what the rest of the world has done and will do ---Agree, no lockdown --- but lots of exhortations to do the right thing -- tremendous increase in physical support for front line wrkers --- and I bet he'll find money to move to support a lot of what has to be done if McConnell continues to stonewall ...
Also, the season and the vaccine availability will conspire to help Biden --- it will get WORSE while Trump is in office and he can be blamed for ALL of that (rightly, in my opinion). Then things will improve in the spring, the vaccine will come on line, and we will finally "round the curve" into next Fall so there will be almost NO Covid surge next winter --- Giving the economy the boost that it needs EVEN if McConnell stops all efforts to spend money money --- It will be true that if McConnell is able to stop spending to help people, the economy will LIMP into recovery rather than come roaring back and that will be terrible --- that of course is where the FIGHT will have to be with progressives in the HOUSE forcing the passage of useful (if insufficient) bills and the rest of us putting as much pressure as possible on SEnators to force McConnell to permit SOME votes..... optimistic I agree --- but also among the realm of possibilities ...
