Here are some facts about Vladimiro Giacche (or Lenino Caca as I call him
myself) for the few here who may not already know His Eminence or have yet to
kiss his ring:

* Fourteen books (author or editor)  and numerous papers on All that Is plus
economics, including a brief study of Hegel's dialectic, writing on Hitler's
Anschluss with Austria, and many other things.
* Currently Head of Communication, Research and Strategic Marketing of Banca
del Fucino S.p.A.
* Präsident des Wirtschaftsforschungsinstituts Centro Europa , whatever that
is.  Probably sits next door to the Schuffhausen Institute or convenes in some
sketchy bar-cafe off a superhighway but hey.  There are a ton of these things.
The Wikipedia article lists well over a dozen of the best-known ones.  Their
list does not include "centro Europa," which doesn't really prove anything.
* Has lengthy Wikipedia bio. These things are sometimes written by their
subjects or by indebted sycophants, but this one AFAIK does not appear to be.

Per German Wikipedia FYI:
*Wirtschaftsforschungsinstitute können staatlich oder privat finanziert sein;
in der Realität finden sich häufig Mischfinanzierungen. Die Institute sind oft
an Universitäten angegliedert, um ein gegenseitiges Profitieren und einen
Know-how-Transfer zu ermöglichen.*

Gotta love that Know-how-Transfer and mutual benefit! So revolutionary!

The books are all in Italian or German--in neither of which am I nearly adept
enough to actually read long theoretical content, even with a pony.  Maybe
they're wonderful.

Strategic marketing?  Lenin in a Lamborghini waving an iPhone if you ask
me--but sparing the highly offensive narcissistic ego and probable hypocrisy,
there must be something in this substantial oeuvre worth engaging if only for
the actual economists or economic historians on the list.

I note that Giacche was an auditor before becoming King Log.  Bank auditors,
IMO, if not corrupt, are among the bourgeois professionals whose tedious but
IMO not altogether uninteresting work--so easily dismissed as "bullshit" by
autonomists and vulgar Graeberites--is essential to maintaining the technical
infrastructure necessary to advanced industrial societies. I know about this
from personal experience, so am inclined to respect this expertise rather more
than all the terribly European pompous chest-pounding around the other things,
especially "the dialectic," which has a particularly slippery history in Italy
(see Giovanni Gentile ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giovanni_Gentile ) ).
Auditors, like the members of international standards bodies, know a thing or
two that the rest of us ought to respect more than most of us do--especially
many American radicals who are too busy listening to popular music to do any
boring research.

But "Lenino's" position that US imperialism is so monstrous that nothing else
in history even comes close is not justified by the publication of a decent
list of scholarly works on other subjects, if decent is what they actually are.
Even the Praesident of an Institut must present this usually stupid argument
for the outlier it is by Marxist standards-- pace the vernacular Left in the
US, which continually asserts a version of this nonsense as proof of what what
Louis Proyect has called their Manichean outlook.

That said, I would be interested in knowing from the list whether anybody has
anything good to say about the evidently well-known Giacche or can refer me to
sources in English or French that show him in a better light than the one in
which he has shown himself here. His bullying reflex moralistic
anti-Americanism--coming from the country that invented fascism and has
inflicted the Red Brigades and  Silvio Berlusconi on the world--is IMO
laughable as well as deeply offensive, but it is also dogma among European
leftists. It could be set aside if there were something wonderful on the other
side of its puny barrier.  Maybe this guy is an Italian Michael Roberts--or
David Harvey--or much more!  A world of delight if one but had the senses to
relish it!!!!
