Roy I knew Dennis when he taught at the Univ. of Pittsburgh. I participated in a conference he organized, and he came to our branch campus to speak. A wonderful man. A dedicated radical and as far as I know, uncorrupted. A friend of mine and I were teaching in a maximum security prison in Pittsburgh. She invited Dennis to lead a class. The prison guards were a nasty bunch, and there was strict security at the entrance. Dennis "failed" the body scan at least three times. He took coins out of one pocket after the first time through. Failed again. Took more coins out. Failed again and took off his watch. Finally passed. Perhaps he was having a good time with these jackasses!
