" We need a coherent labor strategy that can unite workers in different
industries and workplaces."

This appears to suggest creating something entirely new and injecting it into
the working class, who will receive it passively.

What nobody seems to be acknowledging is that the ferment around BLM mobilized
a lot of both Black and not-Black people with the potential for broader
activism.  At present, this appears- to have itself been coopted by a kind of
dead-end vulgar Occupationism which before recently perahps pretty much
petering out satisfied itself with (sort of) fighting the police and the Proud
Boys, starting fires, and breaking plate glass, and  which eschewed articulate
demands except BLM demands and getting rid of Trump.  Now that the profoundly
reactionary Joe Biden is all set to fail abjectly as president, this will
probably die out, perhaps leaving the field open to Mike Flynn.

Sometime last summer, I witnessed a miracle: in the nowhere and nothingsville
has-been town of Bucyrus, Ohio, where I was alas born, there was a march for
BLM  including apparently over a hundred people. This is a place where you
could get your lights punched out for denigrating Trump and where the
Presbyterian Church when last heard from had fallen into the hands of the Oath
Keepers.  Needless to say, given the locale, most of the marchers were white.

Nobody AFAIK shot at the march or waved guns at it, and it was described with
approval as "welcoming" by the local newspaper, which back in the day regularly
ran editorials denouncing public education as a socialist conspiracy and
printed the columns of Westbrook Pegler on the back page next to the Jimmy
Hatlo cartoon.

This is, or was, IMO, a working class action by any reasonable definition. What
are "we" going to do about it now that the portal of opportunity has slammed
shut? Swan around cocktail parties in Brooklyn talking workerism and trying to
get laid?
