Comrades, The most egregious position is (paraphrase) "Don't judge people by the color of their skin. Judge them by the content of their character." Taking King's admonition and turning it on its head.
Obviously, these are side-long attacks upon an 'affirmative action' that was fought for and, to a larger extent than today, was won. An affirmative action that was postulated and willed into action by the militant activities of civil rights orgs, student orgs (esp the SNCC and the BSUs), community-based militant organizations (esp the Black Panther Party and our brown brothers and allies in the MECHAs and the Brown Berets and our many white comrades) and (even more so than all others) the brothers and sisters who took to the streets in major cities (esp Watts 1965 and beyond). Every time one of these racists seizes upon the substance of his words so as to deny its essence, King turns over in his grave.
