Louis is right -- My mother read that book [WE THE PEOPLE by Huberman]
aloud to me when I was 11 or 12 --- and there are still elements of it
(particularly the misuse of the 14th amendment to refer to CORPORATIONS as
people to be protected from State Regulatiions --- as well as the story of
the 1894 Pullman Strike) that stayed with me to this day ---

However -- I wonder if the book does justice to the genocide of the Native
peoples who were here when the Europeans arrived ....Also, I remember it
ends right around the time the US got into WW II with a rather silly
explanation of how the Japanese came to attack Pearl Harbor ...

Gotta get another copy ---
