(You can say the same thing about the USA with Biden and Navalny being
the alternative to Trump and Putin. Saying that there must be an agenda
centered on social and democratic demands is empty sloganeering unless
you can spell out the specific strategy and tactics that will serve as a
foundation for a radical alternative. This is the biggest problem with
Jacobin/DSA politics. Maybe its time to develop transitional demands for
the 21st century.)
The only alternative to the country’s split between an authoritarian
government incapable of change and the liberal pro-Western opposition is
a protest movement that isn’t headed by liberal leaders. A coalition of
the majority can only be created around an agenda centered on social and
democratic demands, and which serves the interests of the working class
and the poorest members of the society.
