Agreed. This reminds me of a disparaging, but mostly true comment made in another thread regarding the the CPUSA.. That party has new leadership and an influx of young members. Though it became a reformist party too linked to democrats under Sam Webb's "leadership" it has more dynamic leadership now, the potential to change and is, in my experience, far more democratic and open to member input than most other left/socialist parties I've had experience with. That said, if a party or a union is rotten or corrupt, should we abandon it or take responsibility as members and correct the problem? Given the lack of real alternatives and the disadvantage of starting from scratch I opt for the latter.
As for alternative parties in bourgeois politics, if we do not have an alternative than we are truly owned. Democrats take voters for granted figuring we will not vote for Republicans -- and most of us would not.
