THough the arguments in the article are certainly valid, it is important to remember that though Marx criticized the Commune for its mistakes and recognized its shortcomings, he praised them as "stormers of Heaven's Gate" and concluded his analysis in THE CIVIL WAR IN FRANCE by claiming the Commune was the "glorious harbinger of a new society" -- in other words, within the very structures created by the Industrial Working Class were HINTS at what the new society would "look like" in practice --
Lenin certainly felt that there were lessons there for the Bolsheviks and in the middle of the Chinese Cultural Revolution, there were claims made that in certain areas (Shanghai was one example) the "idea" of the Paris Commune was bearing fruition --- So I think the analyses the look to weaknesses and mistakes need also to be balanced by all the positive messages the experience of the workers of Paris sent to future generations ...
