The Democrats have done a better job of dismantling the legacy of the New Deal, and Great Society, than any Republican could ever do. The Clinton Administration may be even more responsible than Reagan was, for dragging American politics further to the right than Reagan was. The destruction of The New Deal and Great Society was a calculated plan, and was complete by the second Clinton The term "Atari Democrats" is a new one to me, but I assume this book specifically addressing the Clinton/Gore generation, the DLC, ad nauseum.
I'm sure most of you are familiar with the recent history of labor unions, at least going back to the early 70s, and the days of George Meany. It was at least that long ago, that unions ceased being the voice of the working class, and became just any arm of the political class, and mouthpieces for corporate America.
