I do not think Derek Chauvin will be found guilty. The main reason -- the only reason -- is the charges themselves.
No one will be found guilty of crimes of racism, or imperialism, or capitalism. The legal system itself stands in the way of guilty verdicts. It is a system where a person is charged with a specific crime, instead of more general crimes. If he were on trial for slavery, or Jim Crow, or systemic racism, he could certainly be found guilty. I think the same will be true of Kyle Rittenhouse, in Wisconsin. I believe he will be found not guilty, for reason of self-defense.
