I read a fair amount of articles at Made In China Journal, but I had not read
the one linked here. This might be a turning point for me in the way I see
China. The police crackdown on Marxist and Maoist students is something I had
never about before. Why was this done? This opposition to communist groups,
does not fit with either the stories we hear about Uhygurs being indoctrinated
about Maoism, or Deng Xiaoping's flowery speeches about restoring the legacy of
Maoism. One would almost think China was transitioning from communism to
fascism. Would that be a first in world history?

>From what I have read about the exploitation of Han Chinese seasonal workers,
>I can understand why they would join such a movement.

One would think the global left would want to lift up a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist
movement of students and young workers organizing against the capitalist class,
but I have not heard one peep about this movement.

Is what this article describes unique to Shenzhen, or is it happening all over
China?

The criticism of following the Leninst model could be leveled at any number of
communist and socialist parties in the US ,and western Europe, none of whom
seem to have come up with a successful, unique model of socialism in the 21st
Century, equal to what we have seen in South America.
