It seemed like everything was set for victory. A large, powerful
corporation that took advantage of poverty wages paid in a southern
state. Union organizers who countered company propaganda by highlighting
connections between “civil rights and union rights” to a predominately
African-American workforce. A host of celebrities and politicians who
pledged support for the union drive.
What could go wrong?
