CPI(M) is actually mute on the topic. It is a very big party and includes a few of "anti-revisionists" that like Grover Furr. Vijay however published on this with Tricontinental.
When it comes to the column at Counterpunch, I read it a few days ago when he first published it via email list. I think that this is a subjective call. I don't read it as denying or as an apologia for the treatment of Uighurs, it is a statement of objective facts that I agree with. Yes, the West is exploiting this issue for their own cynical motives. Yes, this is heating up very rapidly into a militarized confrontation. I think honestly that you just think in this rather polarized framework where, unless there is explicit acknowledgement of your particular stocking horse linked to a denunciation, it is all apologia. Sorry, I don't agree with that and would oppose trying to impose that expectation on people. If you go look at Isaac Deutsher's writings, you could make the exact same claims about quite a few of his pieces about the Soviet Union. His negative review of Orwell's 1984 might be called an apologia by you. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
