One defining characteristic of Trumpism was its rejection of governance itself
as an intolerable imposition on the egocentric prerogatives of wealthy white
men and the women who love them.  Trump took the silly and not-quite-serious
Grover Norquist meme about drowning government and reinterpreted  it to include
abolishing, neutralizing, or greatly weakening any form of competent
institutions or organized processes at the national or international levels or
across the board in US. society as a whole.  Trump's governance was a studied
use of state power to create a form of chaos--a bust-out--that  would serve as
cover for the depredations of the Trump family and their allied classes of
grifters and social parasites of great wealth.  Enter Rudy Giuliani, Mike
Lindell, and Steve Mnuchin's squash partners at Goldman Sachs--though the
latter still constitute the unacknowledged legislators of the Democratic
National Committee, which leaves one very big shoe yet to drop.  And enter the
legions of fantasists who are prepared to kill to suppress inconvenient facts
not of one's own devising.

Certainly Biden has interrupted this particular destructive process.  If
nothing else, it now seems likely that the pandemic will be brought under
control. Normal governance has been at least temporarily restored to NIH, the
CDC, the Labor Department, and other institutions that Trump wanted to destroy
and had begun dismantling or neutralizing.  For some reason, Biden has proved
unable or unwilling to rid the world of Louis DeJoy--a very bad sign--but it is
early days yet and he may yet rise to that challenge.

Reimann is IMO right about all the GOP initiatives to regain power, which, if
they succeed, must mean a resumption of Tony Soprano-style anti-governance as
well as white supremacy and crypto-, quasi-, or near-beer fascism, or some
chaotic but murderous approximation thereof.   This is one way in which the
reign of Biden will prove to have been an interregnum if the cards fall a
certain way.

It may be that all of Biden's new New Deal rhetoric is being delivered in the
sure and certain hope that it will fail, thus justifying a return to the good
old Rainbow Reaganism of the Clintons and the rightmost wing of the DP. I
certainly don't take much stock in it.

Butt present we have no clear idea how the the historical mop is going to flop,
or how many mopflops will occur before the second coming of Trump or whoever.
You do not have to be a Bidenite to welcome the reversal, however temporary of
the Trump war on infrastructure.  This comes under the heading of learning to
think.

Of course, nobody associated with Awn-Tee-Faw could ever be accused of
thinking.  May the gods forbit it. Just set shit on fire, blow stuff up, and
beat the crap out of reporters--that'll fix everything. Then you can get all
disillusioned and join the Boogaloo Boiz.
