>From one perspective one could say that the French Revolution took place to
secure property rights that included their right to own slaves in Santo
Domingo. Or that the English Revolution of the seventeenth century took
place to impose the will of God on the Romanish heathen of Ireland.

I've written on this list several times about the American Revolution,
pointing out what seemed to me to be unavoidable realities about this
assessment of the American Revolution, and certainly saw no accurate
responses. I've dropped it in the category of Alexander Hamilton.
Nobody's interested in Hamilton's reactionary and elitist politics. There
is no mood for a historical evaluation of these things, particularly not
when a philanthropic foundation backed by the New York Times has issued
their imprimatur on it.

What we don't get from any of these superficialities are concretes about
what we face right now. I'm concerned what we are doing to make Black
Lives Matter and those who care enough about historical questions have what
they need to unravel these questions available to them, when and whether
they are ready.

Are the Democrats now in charge of the government going to hold Trump,
Stone, Bill Barr, etc. responsible for what is now clearly documented
criminal activities, coverups, and obstruction?

Let's not talk about that when we can instead misrepresent the causes of
the American Revolution as a partisan question? (Who says there are no
differences between the parties, right?) Let's not talk about concrete
measures when we can celebrate in words and . . . well, words . . .. the
diversity that is the U.S. of A.. (Everybody like that new Join-the-CIA
recruitment video?)

Solidarity!
