The first 3/4 of this article read like a text-book example of the theory of permanent (or uninterrupted) revolution. It explains how Myanmar as a nation was created by British imperialism, how as a result it has little or no national coherence, how the only force holding the country together is a military that is semi-independent. The result is that capitalism has never been able to develop in the way that it did in the industrialized world. The article also shows the potential for Myanmar to become a completely failed state, one which destabilizes the entire region - and beyond. As for the last 1/4 - the "solutions" are all based on cooperation of China, or I should say on Chinese imperialism. That is a solution?
