Of course one of the problems with such polling is that every person who is polled has her/his/their own definitions of "socialism" and "capitalism" --- and therefore it is unclear exactly what different groups of people mean when they say they have a negative view of "capitalism" or a positive view of "socialism" ---
Many right wing "populists" have a negative view of capitalism because they define it as giant corporations run by (liberal?) elites who disrespect ordinary people --- these same populists might be against unions --- A lot of liberals see "socialism" as a return to New Deal style government interventions --- So these polls are pretty confusing. It certainly does suggest, however, that a task )even for a very small "left") is to try and introduce into the public square the ideas of WHAT a 21st century US socialism would actually look like. (I myself have always been drawn to the work of Gar Alperovitz whose attempts to define democratic decentralized socialism go back over 50 years !!!)
