One of the publications I follow is Business in Vancouver, “Business intelligence for B. C.” https://biv.com/ They guard some journalistic credibility by opening their pages, from time to time, to union leaders in BC.
I was very interested to find this insert in the June issue of BIV. https://biv.com/magazine/makook-pi-selim-bivs-indigenous-business-magazine-2021 Take note of the text at the top of page 4 and the article on page 9 on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. As some of you will know, Canada Day (July 1) was not marked as a celebration in many places this year. The calls for cancellation came from First Nations and many other people. In my small town a local church has organized car cavalcades during the pandemic, bringing greetings to shut-ins and others. So we weren’t entirely surprised when cars passed our place honking on Canada Day. They were flying Canadians flags and orange balloons, a reference to the orange T-shirts which memorialize the suffering of Fist Nations children in residential schools. My partner was quick enough to get out on our front porch and wave her orange T-shirt back at them. ken h -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
