Hi Dennis --- one clarification --- I think Trump has already promised the biggest mass detention in history for "illegals" --- not for leftists. (though if there were demonstrations, he would use the insurrection act to cow, intimidate, and (if the demonstrators were black) shoot to kill .....
With that issue out of the way, I actually think a Trump election will call forth significant resistance --- and I expect the labor movement to push on bread and butter issues as well ---- But, all (albeit insufficient --- even pathetic) efforts to reverse climate change at the governmental level will cease --- more right wing judges will stack the bench ---- Ukraine will continue to resist but without "our" help and in fact, Putin will get a big win ---- The pro-NEtanyahu faction in Israel will be cemented in leadership with the support of the US and Palestinians will continue to be slaughtered without even a peep of protest from the US (it is conceivable that Biden is planning something dramatic like a symbolic recognition of a Palestinian state --- and maybe behind the scenes he's doing what Reagan did to Begin many years ago) --- And how will "anyone" no matter how much resistance there to Trump here at home, stop the possible (probable?) all out war with Iran --- So I think your argument was attacking a straw person --- I expect lots of resistance to Trump here at home --- BUT I don't expect it to succeed ---- Trump was mostly thwarted by people in the bureaucracy ---- there will be no one like that in Trump 2.0 --- But, hey, agreeing to disagree ain't so bad --- and by the way, I hope I'm wrong and if Truimp wins (I by the way, think he won't --- whatever we on the left say or do) there is even MORE resistance than during his last term.
