RCIT: "Trotskyist" advice to maximize NATO's finances in the war in Ukraine

In mid-December, Serhiy Batryn, representative of the Keretsky village council,
a member of Zelensky's party (“Servant of the People”) in the Mukachevo
district, appeared before a Council hearing, where the budget for the 2024, and
after a strong exchange with those present, he took out three grenades and
threw them at the feet of the public, causing 26 injuries.

It is not absolutely clear what was being debated: it is said that Batryn
requested a review of accounts of the 2023 budget, wanted a 50% salary
increase, that he opposed granting a monetary “award” to the mayor, etc.

This, which made world news, is also indicating a growing boredom among the
Ukrainian people as the war “progresses.”

Recently (4/1), the weekly VOA characterized, in response to the military high
command's request to increase the forces for war by 500 thousand soldiers:
“Kiev has proposed addressing the problem by lowering the age limit for new
recruits and taking strong measures against evasion of mobilizations. But
officials fear a backlash and are hesitant to publicly defend the measures.”

Not only have 6 million Ukrainians left since the start of the war, but
casualties are increasing and the much-vaunted counteroffensive by Zelensky and
NATO has failed.

The people of Ukraine have been dragged to intervene in the imperialist war
between NATO and Russia, to defend with their blood the interests of the
imperialist monopolies and the restorationist bourgeois oligarchies.

This is not a war of national liberation led by Zelensky (as imperialism tries
to present), but rather the people of Ukraine serve as cannon fodder for
imperialist plans to break into Russia and other countries in this area and
advance thoroughly in the capitalist colonization of these vast territories.

Socialist revolutionaries cannot be in either camp. They must fight against
war, proposing the fraternization of the opposing peoples and taking their own
governments and ruling classes as their main enemy. These are the elementary
principles of proletarian internationalism defended by Lenin and other
revolutionary leaders of the Third International.

But, in an article (“Ukraine: Money for the sidewalks or for the army?”
1/23/24) published by the RCIT (Revolutionary Communist International
Tendency), reproducing positions of the Ukrainian group Spalakh, which has just
joined its ranks, after breaking with the International Socialist League (LIS,
to which the Argentine MST is attached), the need arises to deepen the war
against Russia, increasing the military budget, removing it from supposed
"public" expenses (the paving of streets, the construction of routes, etc.),
which would be screens for corruption.

Imperialism, which has invested billions of dollars and the most sophisticated
weapons, is accused of not investing more and Zelensky's government is
denounced as being undermined by great corruption. The note recognizes that the
government has advanced in the privatization of entire branches of production,
for the benefit of oligarchic and imperialist sectors. For example, the
Ukroboronprom complex, which concentrates several key metallurgical industries
for defense. In May 2023, Ukroboronprom converted from a state-owned company to
a joint-stock company. Spalakh-RCIT also denounces the flight of capital from
oligarchs to tax havens.

Instead of making a minimum assessment, after almost two years of war, that
Zelensky is a puppet of Yankee/NATO imperialism and that he has transformed
Ukraine into an imperialist military piece (as is the Zionist State of Israel
in the Middle East and against the Palestinians), proposes moving towards a
“planned economy” and “workers' control”, so that the wealth of Ukraine is not
taken away by corrupt officials and capitalists. The problem would be
guaranteeing that “the money would go to the people to arm the army, if it were
not for the parasitic officials.”

The RCIT's proposal is to combat capitalist corruption, to strengthen the army
and allow, hand in hand with NATO, to defeat Russia.

It is necessary to end the war and the imperialist exploitation that causes it:
it is necessary to end the government of Zelensky, agent of NATO and the
imperialist war, ally of the Zionist State against the Palestinian people of
Gaza and all the far-rightists in the world. (Milei, etc.).

The fraternization between the soldiers and people of Ukraine and Russia, the
fight to overthrow the militarist capitalist governments in each country, does
not figure in the program of the RCIT, which blindly continues its efforts to
defeat Russia. He does not propose ending Zelensky's government.

It is time to wake up: reality has shown that Ukraine has been transformed into
an imperialist war machine. The revolutionary left cannot be in that field.
