It’s not simply or even primarily a crisis of leadership, John, as many of us were miseducated to believe. The trade union and Democratic party leadership is more a reflection than a cause of the political consciousness of its working class base. You've been a long-time trade union and political activist and have run for the Oakland city council. The test of theory is practice. I expect you’ve had no greater success - very likely less - in reaching voters and workers who lean Democratic, much less persuading them to challenge their existing leaderships, than have “progressive bureaucrats” like Fain and O’Brien and the “national experts” featured on Marxmail (presumably Fletcher, La Botz, and Blanc). How do you account for this since you regard yourself by comparison as one who has never hesitated to " to stand up to the union bureaucrats and their more prominent supporters in person" ? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
