BY the way -- the Times as the "newspaper of record" has a LONG history of
slanting the news in the direction the rulling class wants it to go ---

During the 1980s, there was even a brief newsletter called LIES OF OUR
TIMES which made a habit of "catching" the Times on certain slants ---

I have given journalism classes about the LONG (stretching all the way back
to 1953) series of NYTimes misbehaviors when it came (and still comes) to
my parents' case. THere, the Times not only had a ruling class
perspective but also a personal connection to Judge Irving Kaufman (spelled
out in the recent biography of Kaufman which is very "mixed" to say the
least!) ---

In 1993 (40 years after my parents were killed) there was a mock trial put
on by the American Bar Association with a real federal judge, teams of
cracker-jack lawyers, actors playing the witnesses and two seven-per NY
juries). The lawyers defending my parents were able to prove the perjuries
of prosecution witnesses at the original trial based on information gleaned
by researchers since 1953 and both NY juries found my parents innocent --

The NY times did not cover it ---- My brother was on vacation and when he
saw that the NY times had no report on the "juries' " verdicts he told his
wife --_ WE WON --- which they then confirmed by reading the Boston Globe.

Later that summer, the Times ran an article about the vindication of an
alleged cattle rustler in California who was hanged ---

YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP!

But of course, the Times' despicable coverage of Israel-Palestine has much
more serious consequences ....
