Unreported in the Guardian article is Galloway’s challenge to Corbyn that he leave Labour to lead a new socialist organization in alliance with the Workers Party.. It will be interesting to see if Corbyn reponds. Galloway didn’t help the cause when he referred to Corbyn at yesterday's press conference as a “procrastinator” who could have taken a “couple of hundred thousand people with him” after being ousted from the Labour Party parliamentary caucus by Starmer. Galloway also told the press that Corbyn had reneged on a prior commitment to be one of his two “sponsors” at yesterday's swearing-in ceremony in the Commons. Galloway was confident the Workers Party would stand 100 candidates in the next general election.
So Hari’s question is apt: Should Corbyn use the momentum of the Rochdale result to leave Labour and lead a new socialist alliance/party to its left? https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/galloway-urges-corbyn-to-form-new-alliance-to-challenge-starmer-2939541 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
