I think the major take-away has to be what Piketty said --- the privileges
of the party elite were very dramatic and impossible to quantify ----

The ability of "managers" to skim a little off the top ---- (bureaucracies
are infinitely corruptible!) ---- meant that measured inequality was
completely irrelevant to "real" inequality ---
