How is this not just another scare tactic to push people into voting for Biden?
I don't think there's a lot of reliable evidence to indicate that Trump is headed to a victory, though I frankly concede that I don't understand how he could have defeated a garden gnome in 2016. For this reason, I think it's much more important to think about our tasks under the much more likely Biden second term. But more to the immediate point, over most of the country, a vote for Biden (or Trump) is going to be a throwaway. Biden's a lead pipe cinch to win in my state, and a ballot for him would do nothing for him and nothing to damage Trump. More's to the point, it would SAY absolutely nothing. In contrast, both West and Stein are perfectly supportable in principle, though both are not committed to the construction of an ongoing independent party capable of functioning beyond the election. I agree on the Underground Railroad to assist victims of the antiabortion insanity, but that's already in the works. We seem to be facing a wholesale assault on Freedom of Speech on the campuses reminiscent of that in the 1960s but far less popular. We also need to figure out how best to convey what we know--what we have learned--about building successful mass demonstrations to the younger people who are going to need it. And work to sustain them as much as we can. A good start might come even before the election, such as at the Democratic National Convention at Chicago.
