John has mis-termed the issue he is trying to put forth. None of what John polemicizes about has a thing to do with individual terrorism but rather armed struggle, which is NOT, IMO, "individual terrorism". I'm very surprised that he...tars...armed struggle organizations...the very *opposite* if "individual" anything, with a misuse of the term. When Trotsky, to cite one example, writes an essay on the question of individual terrorism, he is dealing with an actual individual (Franco-Jewish activist) who takes it upon himself to assassinate a Nazi in Paris. While all individual terrorists engage in armed struggle not all those who engage in armed struggle have a thing to do with "terrorism". I think this is very sloppy on John's part.
I should point out that even in John's example of the MIR in Chile in the mid-70s, it more or less dropped armed struggle (it was never, EVER, terrorist in any sense whatsoever) by 1970 and started organizing indigenous communities and participated and even dominated some of the Cordones industriales (workers councils often of occupied factories) John counterpoises to his mis-labeled view of "individual terrorism". -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
