Stiglitz keenly appreciates the contradictions of capitalism, such as the
effects of the tractor and the US Great Depression. I cannot find the original
paper of his that I read on the topic, but here is something he wrote during
the Great Recession:

As far as his electoral recommendations go, they are what I would expect from a
former governor of the World Bank. He has a well-developed critique of
Neoliberals like Reagan but not for New Democrats like Clinton, Obama and Biden.
