I agree with you Dennis, this particular essay is certainly not an apologia for the #resistance. I think, though, it is largely out of character for Perlstein's other work which is in many respects exactly that.Perlstein encountered a scandal some years ago, plagiarism if I am not mistaken. FWIW Proyect loathed his work. Having said that, some of Perlstein's work would be well worth reading by younger comrades wishing to get an understanding of the 1970s.
