Damn. Don't know how I feel about this.
My gut reaction is to approve of it as the people getting most fcked over are the very same people from whom the gang members come from as, scorpion-like they turn their stingers on those closest, poor folks, as the rich can hire on their private security. No different than the terrors inflicted, by localized gangs, upon the ghettoes and barrios of big cities here. The fact that, at least initially, the imported police will be black makes it but a little more acceptable. Yet, as I recall, Haiti was the second republic established in a 1803 rebellion against the French led by Toussaint L'Overture and there is therefore much to be proud of in that history. But, like the African rebellions that kicked out the Europeans by the middles of the 20th century, what has arisen in the colonizers place are 'black skins, white masks' as the liberators established themselves as oppressors just as bad, worse. I'm reminded me of what a comrade of mine said when he spoke about talking with a NOI member who said "Who would you rather be oppressed by a black capitalist or a white one?"
