Bolivarism under Chavez began with social-democratic benefits and experiments with "communes." Its arc reached a height, turned to securing the privileges of a few around Maduro, and then to repression of workers' struggles and suppression of the CP of Venezuela. Communists defended the Bolivarian reform path until it turned into an opposite.
