Dear Comrades -- I highly recommend a book that was published this year:
UNDEMOCRATIC: Inside the Far Right's 50-Year Plot to Control American
Elections --- by David Daley ---

It describes how beginning with the POWELL MEMO of 1971 and the creation of
the FEDERLIST SOCIETY -- and gaining speed when John Roberts joined the
Justice Department and attemtped to get the REagan Administration in 1982
to begin the process of eviscerating the Voting Rights Act --- those who
wanted to roll back voting rights (Jim Crow 2.0) succeeded finally with
Shelby County --

It ain't Donald Trump --- he just was the instrument in putting the six
vote supermajority on the Court --- Daley concludes ([. 380)
"Whether gutting the Voting Rights Act, enstringing gerrymanders that
enhanced the power of republicans, or allowing a tsunami of corporate money
to drown our elections. This court's project has been the determined
dismantling of democracy and the birth of a nation where your rights and
your access to the ballot box depend on where you live and , once more, the
color of your skin. Our most antidemocratic institution seems determined
on creating and enforcing anti democratic results..."

(and that doesn't even include the end of ROE which is an important gift to
the Christian Nationalist set of supporters of the extreme right wing in
this country)

I was convinced by Daley's research.
