On this issue, I think that objectives of the Likud and other far right Zionists coincide with the personal interests of Netanyahu. The prolongation of the war makes it easier for the Israeli government to pursue the annexation of the West Bank. And the longer the war continues the longer Netanyahu can stay out of prison, since he faces multiple criminal charges. He has parliamentary immunity as long as he stays in office but will lose that if he steps down from office.
