SORRY Duane --- I think the article attempts to present a "NEW DEAL" between AMerican workers and Capitalists --- It seems simple minded but the question of whether workers can get much more than "subsistence" (A LA CAPITAL) and the capitalists still make sufficient profits to reproduce the system is an "intereseting" question for Marxists.
AFter all -- the famous passage in CAPITAL that ends with "THE EXPROPRIATORS ARE EXPROPRIATED" didn't come true --- not even did it come close in advanced Capitalist countries --- so WHY? WHY has capitalism been so successful at shape-shifting - and if it has done so in the past, maybe the kind of reforms touted by ANTONIA are possible --- OR MAYBE NOT _-- that was the reason I suggested some might want to read it --- not for the politics but for the economic structure that is recommended ....
