Calls for ceasefire without stopping weapons flow are meaningless rhetoric.

Interesting article, though I’d like to see numbers on how many would not vote
for Harris if she came out in full support of Hamas and Hezbollah.  At this
juncture, the media are reporting that she stands behind an immediate ceasefire
in Gaza.  Here is a quote from the Guardian today:
“Kamala Harris also has not taken a different stance on arms sales but has
spoken more assertively for months to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and
has decried civilian killings in Israel’s war in the Palestinian territory.”
In addition to political pressure, Biden’s frustration with the Netanyahu
relationship may be fueling Harris’s position for a ceasefire in Gaza and
against civilian killings.  Although it’s hard to know what Netanyahu has in
mind, people are saying he may be waiting until after the election to hit back
at Iran in which case he could be waiting to see what he could do with Trump in
office and ordering his troops to attack.  He might also be envisioning a
negotiation though that is doubtful.   At the end of the day,  it is likely
ineffective to call on a mere ceasefire in Palestine instead of offering a more
full-throated call for attacks in the Middle East to stop between all parties.
Israel has made it clear that it’s not going to listen to calls for a ceasefire
anyway; it needs to be certain that the threat from Iran’s proxies is first
eliminated and Israelis can move back north, which unfortunately means more
attacks and casualties as Israel tries to push Hezbollah far behind its border
and eliminate its leadership.  In hindsight, the U.S. and perhaps even Israel
could have done much more to help Lebanon as its economy went south in exchange
for certain concessions from Hezbollah, but now that chance is gone, and Iran
wants to help its friends.  With the Sunni and Christian parties in disarray,
Hezbollah is Lebanon’s only effective defense organization, especially with no
president around.  That means Iran is Lebanon’s only source of military
support, and that’s a terrible situation for Israel and the U.S. to be in.  A
call for Israel to implement a ceasefire at this point is almost too late, as
Iran and its proxies are sure to keep attacking Israel, who obviously would not
want to appear weak.

A deeper dive into the polls does indeed show that Harris'sinability to take a
stand against Israeli violence can indeed lead to a Trumpvictory.

If the Dems lose, they'll blame the Left, the Greens - everyone but themselves
- like they blamed Ralph Nader in 2000 when the hapless Al Gore "lost" to W
Bush!
