Israel's army (misnamed "Defense Force") has only about 170,000 soldiers. About 7% of these soldiers have been killed or injured in the last year. John E.'s remarks are absolutely right. Nobody knows how many Hamas fighters have been killed or wounded. We know that 42,000 plus Gazans have been killed, and the Israelis claim that every male Gazan killed was a Hamas fighter. We also know that Hamas and Gaza continue to fight, something that Netanyahu et al. thought would have been impossible. It is impossible to determine how the fighters in Gaza are now organized, just as it is impossible to determine how they are organized, who leads them, and what they are thinking.
