You got your timeline of history confused. The Soviet Union enjoyed worldwide popularity during the Stalin era. In the 1930s while unemployment swelled to as much as one quarter of the workforce, the Soviet Union industrialized at full employment. In World War Two the Soviet Union earned the gratitude of the world's working people when it bore the brunt of Hitler's attack and defeated Nazi Germany. Not for nothing did the partisan fighters of France and Italy largely fight under communist leadership. Working-class disappointment with the Soviet Union came with Khrushchev and Brezhnev. The cause of the 180-degree turn is discussed in "Material Forces that Turn Socialism into Capitalism" at http://www.idcommunism.com/2023/04/material-forces-that-turn-socialism-into-capitalism.html -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
