You're confusing the point about the need for left-wing activists to join with the mass of loyal Democrats to pressure their party and administration to pass reforms being sought by the movement with ostensibly encouraging them to join the DP. That would be a tactical decision for them to make or to not make, based on certain considerations which I previously drew to your attention. In retrospect, the CPUSA's tactical orientation to the DP facilitated their efforts and did not constitute a betrayal of the class struggle as I might well have thought then, along with Trotsky and his followers, given the nature of the period.
