Both official parties are purely capitalist though at times representing schisms within the ruling class but with much policy overlap. The Repugs are more honest about who they are. Fascism is a feature of capitalism when stressed and is possible whichever sector's party dominates. The real power from which neither is separate is what ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern called MICIMATT or the Military-Industrial-Congressional-Intelligence-Media-Academia-Think-Tank Complex. It remains in power with the worst rising to the top.
If there is an upside to the recent electoral debacle it is that it will initiate the uptick in activism we see when the Repug faction dominates and illusions evaporate. Mid-terms will likely bring in more Congressional Dems to moderate the damage.
