Though the Democratic Party has been sold a long time ago and has, since the Clintons took it over, become a Reagan conservative, warmongering force, some Democrats have and continue to be on "our side." The Progressive Caucus and more progressive democrats need to abandon that party and split off into a new, progressive/populist party. They can choose to work in coalition with the Dems on certain issues or not. That "or not" provides real political pressure. The new party must reclaim a New Deal populism and run progressive candidates. Beyond that our own Socialist parties need to abandon sectarianism and build a united front alliance.
One thing that paved the way for MAGA has been cultural work via decades of extreme-right media which "tribalized" partisan politics beyond any connection to issues. What they, especially Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch, understood is the power of culture to shape how we perceive the world, ourselves and how we relate to others. We Reds used to understand that as well prior to the crushing of Proletarian culture in the 1950's. I have worked to revive Proletarian literature for 27 years via Partisan Press ( https://www.partisanpress.org/ ) and I've seen some impact -- though admittedly far from enough but, if I, an impoverished old clock-punching stiff can do this, others can as well.
