At the above link to 'Der Speigel' an article at the start of what will surely
become another controversy over prominent artists taking a stand on events in
Gaza. Whether Nan Goldin's exhibition will remain for what was the supposed
tenure until April, is clearly uncertain. Numerous artists exhibitions have
been closed down over the period even proceeding the latest Gaza War, over the
issue of defence of Palestine.
However Nan Goldin took an uncompromising and solid position defending
Palestinians, and labelling the "war against children" and condemning the
police-dog attacks on Berlin based Palestinian protesters. A short few bits

"What I see in Gaza reminds me of the pogroms my grandparents escaped": At the
opening of her exhibition, US photographer Nan Goldin denounced Israel's
actions in the Middle East war - and also criticized Germany....
"I have decided to use this exhibition as a platform to express my moral
outrage at the genocide in Gaza and Lebanon," Goldin said on stage. "Germany is

is not our understanding of freedom of expression." He continued: "I find the
comments made by Nan Goldin at the opening of her retrospective today
unbearable and dangerously trivializing due to their one-sidedness."
Following the opening, Biesenbach also announced: "At the opening of the
exhibition "Nan Goldin. This Will Not End Well" in the Neue Nationalgalerie, a
protest took place this evening after a speech by the artist, in which slogans
were shouted that do not comply with the museum's code of conduct. The Neue
Nationalgalerie clearly distances itself from the statements of the protesters
and makes it clear that it stands for freedom of expression and respectful
dialogue and interaction with one another."....
