There is now a debate going on about then character about /Hayyat Tahrir
al-Sham/. In the past nearly all progressive writers limited themselves
to denounce them as “reactionary jihadists”. As HTS has now taken power,
some are now opening themselves up to a more differentiated approach.
In this context, I allow myself to draw attention to a pamphlet – “/Is
the Syrian Revolution at its End? Is Third Camp Abstentionism
Justified?/” which I published in April 2017. In particular, the chapter
“/Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham and Other Islamist Militias/” might be of interest.
