Thanks for that extensive treatment, Hari. I would just add the linguistic
evidence regarding your nom de plume, which means in Sanskrit:
• Kumar (कुमार) translates to “prince,” “young boy,” or “youth.”
• It is often associated with Kartikeya (Skanda), the Hindu god of war and son
of Shiva and Parvati, who is sometimes referred to as Kumar.
Sanskrit is an Indo-European language, like Celtic, Greek, German and
practically every language of Europe - it's easier to list the several European
languages that are not. Sanskrit’s origins as part of the Indo-European
language family are tied to the Proto-Indo-Europeans, who lived in the
Caucasus-adjacent steppes and were among the first to domesticate horses. This
connection is supported by linguistic, archaeological, and genetic evidence,
which collectively trace the migration and cultural diffusion of these ancient
peoples.
So "Caucasian" refers to horse people from the Caucuses that spread out in all
directions five millennia ago. But there is a eugenic part to its history as a
concept introduced at a certain place and certain time, a racist time.
